Our Story

Reducing health disparities, restoring trust in medicine, and revitalizing Black communities through innovative, culturally competent care.

Our Mission

To ensure that Black men and boys living in under-represented communities have the opportunity to live fuller, healthier lives by providing accessible, culturally competent healthcare in trusted community spaces.

Our Vision

A future where every Black man in Madison has access to quality healthcare, where health disparities are eliminated, and where trust between Black communities and healthcare providers is fully restored.

Our Three Pillars

1

Reduce Health Disparities

Addressing the systemic inequities that lead to poorer health outcomes for Black men through preventative care, education, and early detection.

2

Restore Trust in Medicine

Building relationships in trusted community spaces like barbershops, providing culturally competent care that respects our community's history and needs.

3

Revitalize Black Communities

Strengthening the health of our community so Black men can be present fathers, partners, and leaders for generations to come.

Why Barbershops?

Barbershops have historically been safe spaces for Black men - places where they can be themselves, share their struggles, and build community. We bring healthcare to where trust already exists.

  • Familiar, comfortable environment reduces anxiety
  • Regular visits mean consistent health monitoring
  • Barbers become trusted health advocates
  • Peer support from other men in the shop
  • No appointment needed - care fits into daily life
“The barbershop is where Black men let their guard down. It's where real conversations happen. That's why it's the perfect place for healthcare.”
